BETHURSDAY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION BREAKS GROUND ON ELM STREET TOWNHOMES

(Atlanta, GA) July 12, 2007 – The Bethursday Development Corporation announced today the groundbreaking of the Elm Street Townhomes, a 32-unit townhouse development located along the Kennedy and Elm Street corridor of Atlanta’s Fifth Ward. The project will be financed by The Midtown Community Bank, and is part of a redevelopment of the 501c3 non-profit development arm of Antioch Baptist Church North.

“The goal is to stabilize the community,” says Bob Jones, Chief Operating Officer of Bethursday Development Corporation. “We want to initiate heavy revitalization and spur other developers to come in and build up this area.”

The Elm Street Townhomes will cover three city blocks in the neighborhood surrounding Antioch Baptist Church North. In partnership with The Midtown Community Bank, Bethursday Development Corporation is helping to shape the development around this church. “The bank has served as an anchor to this project,” Jones says. “This will benefit a whole array of people from the church congregation to families to young professionals.”

Though this project has been two years in the making, it has been well worth the wait. “This is so important because it is the redevelopment of the inner city,” says Donly Chase, President of The Midtown Community Bank. “This requires the type of energy without which important change will never come.”
